Lynda Stuart is a physician-scientist who received her medical degrees from the University of Cambridge and the University of London. She is a member of the Royal College of Physicians in the UK. She trained in internal medicine and nephrology in the UK, working in London, Oxford and Edinburgh.

Lynda received her PhD from the University of Edinburgh, where she worked under the supervision of Professor John Savill and Dr. Adam Lacy-Hulbert studying the mechanism and consequences of phagocytosis of apoptotic cells on dendritic cell function. Her postdoctoral training was in the laboratory of Alan Ezekowitz at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, where she studied the role of phagocytic receptors and opsonins in modifying innate immunity responses. In addition, she developed a computational model of the phagosome based on proteomic analysis of this organelle. This model has been used to understand the cell biology of phagocytosis and the role of the phagosome in the context of the host-pathogen interaction.

Her research interest is in the role of innate immunity and phagocytosis both in the context of tissue remodeling and of host-pathogen interactions.
